The Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence, MA has been providing nutritious breakfasts and dinners every day since the center opened in the fall of 2006. With its restaurant style layout, the Center provides a welcoming and safe environment for all members of its community. Children of all ages have always been welcome at Cor Unum regardless of their situation or supervision. Currently, the center is expanding its work with children through a number of initiatives including outreach to area schools, special events just for kids, and designated tables for children.

A new website courtesy of Jackrabbits Design would greatly facilitate Cor Unum’s work with children. Although Cor Unum does have a general website, it lacks an outlet specifically for children. Cor Unum hopes to use the new website to specifically reach children. The page would provide information about Cor Unum and its youth friendly format. It would serve as a way to communicate with children about kid-only events. It is no secret that technology is a huge part of the world today and for much of the area’s younger population, the internet is simply the most effective means of communication. Cor Unum hopes to use the website as a way for children to interact with Cor Unum and the community. A youth-specific website might allow children to interact with staff in a whole new way, perhaps even voting on what their favorite meals and desserts were. The site would also serve an educational purpose, providing nutritional information and tips for healthy eating habits. Cor Unum already serves the vital mission of helping to alleviate hunger in the Lawrence area, now it’s looking to expand its outreach to children to make sure they have not only a hot meal, but a safe community they feel a part of.
