Who can pass up an evening of food, drink, and celebration of typography and design?!
Last week 7 members of the Jackrabbit team headed to Woburn, MA, for a networking event held at the location of the world’s largest font vendor, MyFonts.
This sold out event was a wonderful opportunity for us to meet some new faces over dinner and drinks and explore the MyFonts headquarters! The typography-inspired details of the office space did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by our design team! We were especially mesmerized by the glowing reception wall, featuring thousands of laser-cut and backlit letter M’s in different fonts! The MyFonts team shares their office space with their parent company, Monotype Imaging. Therefore, the typography-inspired design of the space made perfect sense. Details like contours of hallways were based on letterform shapes. Conference rooms were named after typefaces and type terminology. Even glass walls were adorned with Unicode! (Design by Spagnolo Gisness & Associates. Engineering, Fabrication, Installation by DCL.)
One highlight of the event for our team was the live screen-printing demo with Jay LaCouture of AntiDesigns. We were thrilled to get our hands dirty and print our own souvenir posters!
For all the typography nerds attending, there was plenty of type-themed swag. There was even a competitive Type Quiz presented by Allan Haley of Monotype. A lot of excited people walked away with some awesome typography and design books, free TypeCon tickets, and MyFonts gift cards!
