E-Commerce Website Design for The Black Dog

Rabbits agree: it's best to live #LifeOffTheLeash

Designing for an iconic brand

Working with The Black Dog on their e-commerce website (integrated with Shopify) was a great experience. For New Englanders, we’ve been long exposed to the apparel side of the brand at minimum (and the tavern/dining side of things for the luckiest of us!). With the growing brand reaching people across the country, we kept two main goals in mind throughout the project: make it easy for users to buy apparel and goods, and engulf the user in the Life off the Leash lifestyle.

Clear-cut User Experience

A thoughtful user experience allows users to easily shop the different categories, and make a purchase efficiently. We went about the overall lifestyle branding component of the site by treating it as more than just a place to buy goods. You can learn about the other offerings, from weddings and wine to tall ships.

Shopping Anytime, Anywhere

It was integral that the website be optimized for mobile devices, and allow users to buy easily from their phones. Making the site responsive was a given, but we still wanted those users to get a sense of the bigger brand as they shopped.

A good email strategy is key to an e-commerce brand. We designed and developed a template that matches the look and feel of the new site and can feature timely information, key products, and more.

The Black Dog Legacy Illustrations

When the story behind an organization is as cool as theirs, you need to showcase that in an equally awesome way. We designed an illustrated Legacy page, to tell the captivating story of how it all began. You get a sense of the history and pride that goes into the brand through this page and the website as a whole. You can read more about the process of creating custom illustrations to add a “wow” factor to any project on our Illustration page.

The Black Dog WOOFstock Event Recap Video

Jackrabbit had the pleasure of filming an event recap video for The Black Dog at WOOFstock—a charity event that benefits Last Hope K9 Rescue. We also shot still photography at the event, which would be used by the client along with the video for social media content.

The History of The Black Dog Video

We did a video shoot to capture the story behind the organization, featuring the family discussing the brand and its legacy.
