Website Design & Development for Ethos Veterinary Health

Over two dozen websites later.

When our long-time client IVG Hospitals told us that they were merging with three other specialty hospital groups under a new brand, we were intrigued. Today, Ethos is comprised of a mix of general practice, emergency, and critical care veterinary and specialty referral hospitals. The Ethos brand was already established, but the web presence of all of the different entities was hardly cohesive. We got to work.

Web Design & Development

Our first step was establishing a high-level project plan that encompassed the most common needs the various sites had (providing information, mapping locations, disseminating resources, and more). This led us to create a super-structure of sorts, or the collection of page types that we could design and develop in a way we could then leverage across the various child sites. Approaching it this way enabled us to think of the project as one main ecosystem with distinct entities.

The Child Sites

In just over two years, Jackrabbit launched the main Ethos Vet site, plus 23 child sites (yes, you read that right). This was possible because of our strong client relationship, the trust they have in us, and the hard work they put in from their side.

A Few of Our Favorite Things

Some elements of this project were extra important to get right. For example, figuring out the site navigation. The end result of website navigation is all about simplicity—but creating an organizational system for a parent site and dozens of children was no small feat. We’re proud of the super navigation that we created on the main site, and the intuitive cross-links from the child sites. We were also thoughtful about shared content—for example, the child sites show services depending on their capabilities and pull in the team based on their departments. With a large sprinkle of developer magic, we setup the blog in a masterful way to house the many posts and feed into relevant spots on the child sites.

Taking on Training

We launched an Ethos website to promote training and internships. We’re able to showcase all of the training programs in one spot, but we developed it in a way where they easily pull into the relevant child sites. All hospitals have their own landing page with fun icons and hospital facts.
